‘The Movie Critic’ No Longer Tarantino’s Final Film – ScreenHub Entertainment

Acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino has been pretty deadset on ending his tenure as a film director with ten films under his belt, fearing his work will begin to deteriorate after that number. So his swan song feature film was set to be The Movie Critic, starring Brad Pitt, which would have seen an irreverent film critic working for an adult magazine in the late 1970s, writing reviews about mainstream films (which may not be the point of the magazine). The idea for the film was based on a real critic Tarantino used to read as a teenager, citing the protagonist “is based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.”

But Tarantino is known to be something of a perfectionist and when it comes time for his tenth and final, he must be feeling the pressure to make it perfect. As such, The Movie Critic must not have been meeting his standards, as the director completely scrapped the project late yesterday per Deadline, who stated Tarantino simply “changed his mind” about making this his final film. It’s now back to square one, finding a whole new story for his final project. Perhaps Tarantino will adapt The Movie Critic into a book, after novelizing Once Upon A Time In Hollywood; but for now, fans will just have to sit tight and wait for an update, which of course, we’ll have as soon as we know it.
