‘Welcome to Derry’ Adds Bill Skarsgård To Its Cast – ScreenHub Entertainment

While not the best horror movies in recent memory, the two chapters that comprise the latest IT adaptations were insanely popular, thanks in part to the performance of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. For some time now, we’ve known that Warner Bros. were looking to capitalize on the franchise with a prequel TV series for HBO Max titled Welcome to Derry. But we were left in the dark as to who would be playing Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Now, thankfully, it’s confirmed that the series, which is being developed by IT director Andy Muschietti, alongside Barbara Muschietti, with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane serving as co-showrunners, will indeed feature Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. The show has been casting since April 2023, so the absence of Skarsgård was fuelling concerns that Max would recast the titular IT. Skarsgård will also serve as an executive producer on the series. The series aims to chronicle the origins of the character, which will be set in the fictitious town of Derry in the 1960s, and will consist of nine episodes and will air in 2025.
