Warner Bros. Developing ‘300’ TV Show – ScreenHub Entertainment

You get a prequel, you get a prequel, everybody gets a prequel! That seems to be the case in Hollywood these days, with tons of prequel projects getting confirmed and developed. The latest one comes to us from Warner Bros., with Variety reporting that they’re seeking to develop a 300 prequel series for Max.

There’s still no writers or showrunners attached to the project, but there are rumblings that the studio is looking to bring Zack Snyder back to direct at least some episodes and produce the series. This is an interesting development, as WB infamously split up with Snyder after the whole Justice League situation.

Unlike 300 and its prequel/sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire, there’s no source material to pull from to tell a prequel story. Author Frank Miller continued his Ancient Greece saga in his Xeres limited series, which eventually brought Alexander the Great into the narrative after the assassination of Xeres. Alexander would, of course, go on to conquer Greece and Persia, which brings him into direct conflict with Darius III of Persia, so it’s strange that Warner Bros. are looking to go backwards instead of forwards with this project. Personally, I’d much rather have that story than a Leonidas origin story or whatever this prequel will be.
