It’s no secret that the Superbowl, one of the biggest nights in sports attracts more than just football fans. One of the biggest appeals of the final game of the NFL’s season is the high budget exclusive commercials that play alongside the game-and first looks at the biggest upcoming films are part of that allure. While we’re all pretty certain we’ll get trailers for the likes of Mission Impossible 6: Fallout, Avengers, Solo and maybe even Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, another film may debut its long-awaited trailer.God Particle, or Cloverfield 3, is the latest mystery to come out of that film universe. Directed by Julius Onah and starring Daniel Bruhl, Elizabeth Debicki, Askel Hennie and David Oyelowo and produced by J.J. Abrams, the film is said to be set in the International Space Station and focuses on an experiment involving the titular “God Particle”. Sidenote, we’re not even 100% sure that’s the final title of this movie. But despite not knowing that much about this movie, we’re likely about to get more! According to Deadline, a deal between Netflix and Paramount is about to be completed, ushering in a new platform for the mystery science fiction film to launch on.
Netflix would use the Super Bowl to reveal the film to world-and if the deal comes through, Netflix would become the first streaming cable service to launch a trailer on at the Super Bowl. We’re not sure however if the film would still release theatrically if the Netflix deal comes through. Either way though, the film is scheduled to release on April 20th, 2018. If Netflix comes through, we may actually get the film prior to that initial release date. Time will tell! For now, we’ll have to kick back, watch the game and see what comes our way.
