Who Should ‘Tales of the Jedi’ Focus on Next? – ScreenHub Entertainment

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi was a unique project from Dave Filoni, serving as a spiritual sequel to The Clone Wars while offering more of a bite-sized and nuanced approach to some characters. The first season focused on both Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, two characters who end up leaving the Order after their faith in the Jedi is shattered at one point in their lives. Should there be a second season, we wanted to give some options as to who would be interesting candidates to explore more in-depth.

Prequel Era

Plo Koon

One of the first Jedi we really got to know outside of the core familiars in The Clone Wars animated series, Plo kind of vanishes from the plot as the series goes on, despite being responsible for bringing Ahsoka into the Jedi Temple. The great thing about Plo is that he’s instantly likable, despite his more intense appearance, and is a respected member of the Council. So it would be nice to give this guy his own moment to shine, allowing us to get to know him a bit more and flesh out his backstory.

Luminara Unduli

Aside from some segments in The Clone Wars and learning her fate in Rebels, we really don’t know too much about her. What I think would be a cool angle is how someone so composed and dedicated to the Jedi ends up having an apprentice, Barriss Offee, who opts to become a terrorist, ultimately bombing the Jedi Temple and framing Ahsoka. Was Luminara too dedicated, to the point of being overtly biased or blinded? Definitely something to explore here.

Quinlan Vos

Quinlan Vos is one of the Jedi who has survived Order 66, as detailed in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but most fans probably have no idea who he is. He appears in one arc in The Clone Wars animated series as a bit of a surfer bro, but unfortunately, he’s nowhere near as interesting in the show as he was in the old, now non-canon, comics from Dark Horse. In either continuity, Vos was a rulebreaking Maverick on the Order, often breaking rules and going deep undercover for the Order. But there’s a chance to really explore Vos more, there has to be a reason why they’ve kept him alive but have kept him hidden, so why not pull the veil back on him a bit?

Mace Windu

2024 looks to be the year of Mace Windu, with both a comic series and a novel hitting shelves. But we think there’s room for a bit more Mace this year and hope that we get some stories of him in animation form. Mace was a key character during the Clone Wars but was often overshadowed by the likes of Anakin and Obi-Wan. He got a few moments, but we really don’t know too much about him, so going through his career would be a neat angle for this show, considering how important he is to the Jedi Council.

Baylen Skoll

The standout of the Ahsoka series is also the character with the most potential for a segment on Tales of the Jedi. A former Jedi himself during the Clone Wars, Baylen was notably absent during this era narratively speaking. The main and obvious reason is that he wasn’t created yet, but canonically, there’s a lot of potential for exploring why we haven’t seen him. Was he undercover? Why did he become so jaded and how did he learn about the Mortis Gods in a galaxy far, far away? So many cool questions that we hope get answered one day and we think that a segment in this show would be a no-brainer.

High Republic Era

The High Republic era is one that book readers are getting more familiar with, due to the vast publishing initiative set in this period, and live-action fans will get their first real taste of what it is when The Acolyte debuts later this year. That show will be set during the twilight of the High Republic, whereas these characters are from the books that are out, during the conflict with the Nihil a few hundred years prior.

Avar Kriss

Considered to be an inspiration to the Jedi during the time of the High Republic, she’s been at the center of a lot of the stories set during the current publishing initiative in one way or another. But what about events leading up to the conflict with the Nihil, the Hyperspace Tragedy, and the whole Starlight Beacon incident? Well, this show doesn’t have to limit itself to the prequel era, and allowing Avar to make the transition from book to animation would get more eyes on this particular era, which is currently limited to book stories only.

Stellen Gios

There are quite a few Jedi during the High Republic era, but if we’re suggesting Avar as one, then Stellen Gios is a natural secondary pick. Her partner in many missions, Stellen actually struggled as a Jedi in his youth. I think exploring the backstory of someone who actually struggled immensely, so much so that he essentially cheated to complete his Jedi Trials, would be a vastly different story of gifted youth and would thus feel refreshing and unexpected.

Elzar Mann

The unorthodox and sometimes controversial Jedi would be a great third option to explore in Tales of the Jedi. He’s a rule breaker and has a hidden relationship with Avar, something we know the Jedi were not big fans of. Mann would often experiment with the Force and he was a renegade and a maverick of sorts, which made him both unpopular and difficult to work with. This love of tinkering with the Force resulted in him working as a lone wolf more often than not, something that we don’t usually see with the Jedi, barring perhaps Quinlan Vos.

Thankfully, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to know who will be in Tales of the Jedi season two, as the season will no doubt get a proper reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2024, happening in April. Until we do know for sure, who do you hope to see in the second season? Let us know!
