Christopher Nolan and his wife and producing partner, Emma Thomas, will receive a knighthood/damehood for their contributions to film. The duo, fresh off their 2024 Oscar sweep for their movie Oppenheimer, will now be known as Sir Christopher Nolan and Dame Emma Thomas once the ceremony is complete.

The knighthood/damehood comes at the recommendation of the current British government, as the monarchy is currently not performing royal duties with the King dealing with his cancer diagnosis, making it unclear just who will formally bestow the titles on the filmmakers.

Nolan and Thomas have made some of the most popular and iconic films of the 21st century. From the Dark Knight trilogy to Inception to the aforementioned Oppenheimer, which won seven Academy Awards, the duo have no doubt left their mark on the film industry.
