Michelle Yeoh is joining the Blade Runner universe as the lead character in Blade Runner 2099. The limited series will air on Amazon Prime and will be executive-produced by Ridley Scott. Shogun director Jonathan Van Tulleken is set to direct the first two episodes.

Michelle Yeoh earned herself an Oscar in 2023 for her amazing performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. She has appeared in many action-packed blockbusters over the years, including Tomorrow Never Dies, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. She is also no stranger to televised science fiction, appearing as what would become fan favorite anti-hero, Philippa Georgiou, in Star Trek: Discovery. She is also expected to play the lead in the Star Trek: Discovery spin-off TV movie Star Trek: Section 31.

Blade Runner 2099 will continue to explore the world that director Ridley Scott created in 1982. It will be a sequel set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049. There are no details about Michelle Yeoh’s character or the plot, but given Yeoh’s history in the action film genre, one can expect It will be exciting.
