Kevin Smith Announces New Film ‘The 4:30 Movie’ -ScreenHub Entertainment

Kevin Smith has announced his latest cinematic adventure, an original feature film titled The 4:30 Movie. The iconic indie filmmaker took his official Facebook page to make the announcement. Smith stated he was “ecstatic to announce a new film – my 16th in 30 years!”

The 4:30 Movie is set in 1986 New Jersey. The period film will be a coming of age story centered around three teenage boys (played by Austin Zajur, Nicholas Cirillo and Reed Northrup) enjoying their sixteenth summer. The boys will have their lazy Saturday pastime, sneaking into the local movie theater, disturbed by the introduction of a female infiltrator (Siena Agudong). As Smith’s film progresses, each of the four teenagers will “learn something serious about life and love.”

Judging by the promotional images included in Kevin Smith’s Facebook post, The 4:30 Movie will return him to his Clerks roots. Smith shot this film in The Smodcastle Cinemas, the local theater that Smith and his co-owners saved from demolition in 2022 and where Smith himself spent his lazy teenage summers. Considering the tone of the images, The 4:30 Movie looks like it will be a thoughtful story dripping with nostalgia for Smith, and anyone who remembers the social media free era of the 1980s.

Smith’s Facebook post also mentioned a star studded cast. Some recognizable faces in The 4:30 Movie will include Ken Jeong (The Hangover), Sam Richardson (Veep), Genesis Rodriguez (Tusk), Justin Long (Barbarian), Jason Lee (Almost Famous), Rachel Dratch (I Love My Dad), Kate Micucci (The Big Bang Theory), Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog), Harley Quinn Smith (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), and Method Man (Power Book II: Ghost). It is not yet known who these comedy and drama legends will play.

The 4:30 Movie will be distributed summer of 2024 by Saban Films, who worked with Smith on his film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and recently acquired the world wide rights to the film. In his Facebook post Smith also thanked producers Jordan Monsanto and Destro Films, and noted Josh Bachove as an additional producer and included Bill Bromiley and Shanan Becker as executive producers. In a press release, Saban Films said about Smith “Kevin has been one of the defining voices in American Independent Cinema for 30 years now, and THE 4:30 MOVIE is like a Valentine to moviegoers from a lifelong film fan that also acts as his most personal production yet. This is our second of hopefully many movies together”
