Kevin Smith Isn’t Making ‘Dogma 2’, But He’s Thinking About it Really Hard – ScreenHub Entertainment

I have written before about the iconic indie film director Kevin Smith. It is no secret that I am a fan of him, as a director and as a person. So it is always nice to see him excited about a new project, especially when the title of that project could very well be Dogma 2.

In a recent interview on the stage of Vulture Fest, Kevin Smith explained That, with the upcoming release and national tour of his 1999 religious satire Dogma, he had been thinking a lot about a potential sequel. He told the audience “Some people will be like, ‘Don’t fucking touch it. You’ll ruin it.’ And I’m here to tell you: I will,” he added “I’m fucking tickled. I found a way in.”

While this is enough to excite any fan of Kevin Smith, he later released a video on social media attempting to get ahead of any misleading headlines that he expected to and did indeed, make false claims about his process. He explained, “To me, writing isn’t mashing fingers on keyboards… Writing is when you’re alone in a car for four hours, and you turn off the radio, you just think. You just dream”. He also walked back a, perhaps over-excited, claim that he had made about the involvement of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in the project, clarifying that he hasn’t spoken to them, or anyone, about the potential sequel.

Kevin Smith has been able to move mountains in the film industry. He’s persisted armed with only his talent and sheer passion for the art form. Dogma 2 may only be a twinkle in Smith’s eye at the moment, but Alanis Morissette willing, he can make it happen.
