‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Episode 7 Spoiler Review – ScreenHub Entertainment

Daredevil: Born Again continues to amp up the stakes for Matt as the ground below him begins to cave in as he dives back into the life he cast aside a year ago. Episode 7, titled Art For Art’s Sake, really dove into the character motivations and delivered a satisfying episode.

It addressed a criticism I had with last week’s episode that said, where I criticized the use of Angela being the motive to get Matt back into the Devil suit. This week, Heather finds herself under attack from Muse, and I can’t help but think that this should’ve been what kicked Matt into high gear, as it’s so much easier to buy into Matt bringing Daredevil back for someone he genuinely cares for. It makes his actions far more believable and justifiable.

It turns out that Muse is one of Heather’s patients, one that we actually got a brief glimpse of in the first episode during her book signing. And she’s his next target, something Matt discovers by tracing his fingers over one of Muse’s portraits, and feeling out the details. It’s a bit of a stretch, but whatever, we’ll roll with it as it gets Matt into Heather’s office to fight Muse. The fight here felt very choppy, that said, not as clean as we’ve come to expect from Daredevil, which I found surprising. I do wonder how Heather will treat Daredevil now that he saved her; she’s not a fan of masked vigilantes after all. Also, and I may have missed this, but I think Muse may have gotten a knife slash onto Matt’s body, which may be telling for Heather.

But Matt’s investigation into Muse and the subsequent fight between them that resulted in Muse’s death at the hands of Heather, coupled with Angela’s testimony, means that Fisk is now aware that Matt has brought the Daredevil suit back out and is “working again”. Interestingly, Fisk doesn’t share the secret like he said he would; he doesn’t even tell his task force. He keeps that one to himself for the time being, for reasons unknown, but likely personal. Perhaps Fisk wants to fight Matt one-on-one and get out of the duties of being the mayor and reaping the headlines himself.

Fisk and Vanessa seem to be getting closer again, as the pair plot and successfully get Luca assassinated in a restaurant that looks a lot like the one where Michael shot Sollozzo in The Godfather. I never thought Vanessa would ever betray Fisk, despite their rocky start at the front of the season, so it wasn’t a complete surprise to see them team up to take out the trash, so to speak.

Overall, episode 7 was a solid episode. The show so far isn’t reaching the same highs as the Netflix run, but it’s still solid enough to be invested in the overall storyline. Let’s see how the final two episodes wrap up the story.
