Rockstar may have recently delayed the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI mere days ago, but to make up for the extended delay of the game, which is now targeting May 26, 2026 as a launch date, we now have a new trailer, a slew of new screenshots, and details about the upcoming title.
First up: the trailer. Featuring The Pointer Sisters’ Hot Together as the main song, the second trailer features more of Jason Duval this time around (finally, his name is officially confirmed after years of leaks). According to Rockstar, Jason did a short stint in the Army trying to clear the troubles of his youth, and ended up working as a drug runner in the Leonida Keys, GTA’s take on the Florida Keys. Lucia Caminos, the other lead in the game, was taught how to fight by her father when she learned how to walk, which, of course, has gotten her into plenty of trouble. She hails from Liberty City and dreams of the better life her mom wanted for her, and plans to undertake a new plan with Jason to give her the life she’s always wanted, and needed.

Other new characters include Cal Hampton (who looks an awful lot like like Matty Matteson), Jason’s conspiracy theorist friend, Bobby Ike, a former criminal turned business owner, Dre’Quan Priest and Real Dimez, up and coming rappers in Vice City, Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber, and Brian Heder, an elderly drug runner from the golden age who sounds like he’s voiced by Stephen Root.

The official plot synopsis for the game is as follows:
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

Rockstar also showcased some of the new areas beyond the limits of sunsoaked Vice City, including the aforementioned Leonida Keys, Grassrivers (the game’s take on the Everglades), Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga, the latter of which seems to be a nature park full of wildlife and outdoor activities such as kayaking. What stood out to me was the level of tiny details in the footage. Beer sloshes in bottles, fauna takes over streets, and the world reflects off of sunglasses and car mirrors. We’ll also be able to go scuba diving, and some of the old mini games from the San Andreas days might be making a comeback too, such as weightlifting.
