This just in: Amazon MGM is developing a TV series based on the legendary Wolfenstein video games. What’s even better is that it will be produced by Kilter Films, the studio that’s headed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are currently working with Amazon on the Fallout show.
Not much is known about the project at this point except that Patrick Sommerville (The Leftovers) is the series’ writer, creator, and showrunner. Nolan, Joy, and Athena Wickham are attached as executive producers alongside Sommerville. A single logline is available for the show, too, keeping things simple: “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen.”
The Wolfenstein series is a landmark series that helped pioneer and popularize the first-person shooter genre of video games. In it, you play (for the most part) as William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, an American Captain of Jewish Polish descent and his bloody war against the Axis. And make no mistake, bloody it is, but considering who the bad guys are…

The series is largely an alternate history, focusing on the Nazi’s pursuit of more occult powers during the war, resulting in some creative and unexpected situations to get yourself in, and a “what-if” scenario that saw them winning the Second World War and taking over the United States.

Here’s hoping that Amazon greenlights the project fully (development isn’t a guarantee), as it could be another hit for them, Kilter, and game adaptations in general. And if it does, for the love of all that is holy, hire Alan Ritchson as Blazkowicz. He’s already working with Amazon on Reacher, and would be perfect casting.
