‘Grand Theft Auto’ VI Delayed Again – ScreenHub Entertainment

Update No. 2: Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed again, with a new release date of November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games cited that they’re using the additional time to polish the game to their standard.

I suppose it was inevitable. In a press release this morning, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will be delayed until May 2026. The game, one of the most anticipated pieces of media of all time, initially targeted a fall 2025 release.

Rockstar issued the following statement this morning:”

We are very sorry that this is later than you expected,” Rockstar said. “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.”

Considering that delay, though, and knowing that the first trailer (above) was revealed in 2023, I am of the belief that Rockstar launched the marketing for this game far too early, and the radio silence since has been loud. With this delay, Rockstar didn’t reveal anything new to tide fans over. A few new screenshots would’ve been nice. But I’d rather have a polished game than a buggy one at launch and if the devs thought they needed more time to deliver a polished game, then I’m more than okay with the delay, even if it sucks as a fan.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. 2025 has been a stacked year thus far, and there’s a ton of anticipated titles on the horizon. We have Death Stranding 2 coming this summer, Borderlands 4, Doom: The Dark Ages, Metal Gear Solid Delta, Crimson Desert, Hell Is Us, and many more to play instead. Likewise, this gives games like Expedition 33 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a stronger chance in this year’s award season.
