In an unorthodox reveal, Marvel slowly unveiled the cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. During a multi-hour live stream event, the names of the cast members were slowly revealed as the camera would pan across the line of chairs and linger on the name for an extended period of time before revealing the next name. It may not be the most exciting reveal, but we have new information at long last and that’s good enough for us.

While we already knew that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning in the film, albeit as Dr. Doom, and that the Russo Brothers are slated to direct both this film and its followup, Avengers: Secret Wars. The rest of the cast was a mystery until today. It’s a pretty stacked cast, and here’s a list of who’s confirmed in the movie:
Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grim/The Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres / Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau/Gambit, Pedro Pascal as Reeds Richards/Mr. Fantastic, and of course, Downey Jr. as Doom.
A lot of the cast come from the more recent phases, including the upcoming Fantastic Four film, Shang-Chi, members from the Falcon and Winter Soldier/Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and Wakanda Forever. The returning characters from Phase One are Hemsworth, Stan, and Hiddleston, with Rudd and Mackie being a Phase Two characters. The cast does confirm who will be alive in Thunderbolts*, which is a bit annoying as it’ll take away some tension from that film, unfortunately. Loki returning is a surprise, as Hiddleston previously stated on Jimmy Fallon that Loki was: “the conclusion to Seasons 1 and 2. It’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life.” which indicated that the actor had indeed stepped back from the role. As Deadpool said, “’til you’re ninety.” Also surprising to see the amount of original X-Men in the cast, awesome to see X and Magneto reunited again.
As always, we’ll keep you posted on any updates involving the movie as they happen. Stay tuned!
